Lowe's...
1/2020 2x4x8 = $3.09 9/2021 = $6.98 3/2022 = $7.98 Today = $4.33
1/2020 4x8x7/16 OSB = $8.99 9/2021 = $30.98 3/2022 = $40.86 Today = $24.65
In case y'all don't know, lumber futures dropped a little while back. With interest rates climbing and new house starts declining, lumber inventories are climbing. Also, the price of diesel has put a hurt on logging operations (cutters, loaders, log trucks)...Mills are cutting back. Some small mills are contemplating lay-offs or even closing for awhile.
Don't know if we'll see those January 2020 prices again, but if you bang your own nails, I'd be watching material prices as summer winds down a little, but before hurricane season gets into high gear.

I haven't bought but a little lumber in the past couple years, pretty much run out of things to build. But, sort of like onions in a recipe, you can just never have too much lumber. I might just stop by the lumber yard and pick up some various 2x4s. The OSB? Nah, the darn stuff is made from pretty much scrap, I'll wait till it comes down some.

Babysitting girlfriend today and her dad went to Lowe's... said the place was a morgue with nearly nobody there... said he looked at prices and just turned around and walked out...

You're right Jolly, and I do watch everything, every week. I have to in my business. Except for the month of that Canadian trucker's strike, the prices have been easing back down. (At THAT time, they used the excuse to bring out the high priced/low quality crap they had to take off the shelves last winter because NO ONE would buy it, lol) HOWEVER.......I have seen a lot of prices for every day stuff go thru the ROOF! Next time you're near the paint aisle, would you post what a single tube of caulk is in your area? Any grade is fine, just want an idea if what's going on is isolated or nation wide. Here, last week, brace yourself................. $13 a tube!!!I always have a few extra laying around and haven't had to buy any this month.

I’m paying right about $5 a tube for Alex caulk these days. I still can’t believe how much my monthly Lowes bill has increased the past few years.

That's about what it WAS here in WNC (what I call painter's caulk/latex) now that's $8-$10. I usually use silicone caulk for all my bath and kitchen work so a few dollars more was ok ($6-$7) but $13!

Once a year I buy a bundle (140 pieces) of rough sawn 16' fence boards, which I did a couple of weeks ago. This year $15.29, last year $8.xx, almost doubled from last year.
Had a wind storm a couple of days ago bring down a forest tree across my fence. It took out 3 boards.
