woolybear, now that you mention fingers, it does resemble a finger shredder/grinder of some sort.

I cannot believe you folks don't know what a pea sheller is. Heathens!

BTW, if you're real handy, I've seen those homebuilt out of parts from a wringer washing machine.

I cannot believe you folks don't know what a pea sheller is. Heathens! I’ve only used the original pea shellers…my hands.

Well, I’m disappointed…I thought the tub underneath was for catching fingers.

Well it doesn't look like any pea sheller I ever seen. Of course the last time I raised peas was over 30 years ago (I just don't care for them, except snow peas) And at that time we took them to a local mennonite with a big contraption that spit peas out one side and hulls out the other. The mennonite kept the hulls to feed to his dairy cows.

It's the most common sheller seen down here. Pre-COVID, they were around $400. Today, I think they're double that.

$815...I don't think I would eat that price in that many canned peas in my lifetime. I bet I only eat about 3 cans of peas a year, if that, and that's counting the more than 1/2 can leftover. But I did buy a couple bags of frozen peas to dehydrate - because, you know, might be a depression coming and I could give them to someone.
