I broke my hoe handle the other day so I thought that I would just pick one up when I was up town one day. After the trip to town........my hoe is now 6" shorter.

If you have a friend that's an electrician, see if he can get you a cut-off of EMT the right size and length.

If I was to buy a ho, she wouldn't come with a handle. Just saying...

EGADS have you never heard of "love handles" geesh lol When I buy a hoe I like it to be a little older, used abit, but not too much. Price is not that important, but cheap is always better if it is a good hoe. I like a hoe that is a little bigger than most, but not too big. If the hoe is too big it becomes more like work. A tall hoe is good for me also so I don't have to bend over as far. That is hard on my back. The hoe must be sharp so I don't have to work as hard and I can last longer. I don't like to sweat! If it has all that then you have the perfect hoe.

Back in the late 1970s there was a big hullabaloo about the farmers providing only short handled hoes for the wet backs to use in the onion fields in similar places. There were civil rights protests and I believe even the Catholic Bishops got involved in trying to correct this terrible wrong.
Of course the farmers didn't really care one way or another and weren't paying much attention but when it finally became apparent that they were going to have to pay attention they went out and bought a bunch of long handled hose and stacked them with the short handle ones.
The bus load of wet backs arrived, the first ones to the field picked up a short handled hoe apiece and when they were all gone the rest of the guys picked up long handled ones and everybody went to work. Within a few days somebody had dug up an old hand saw so they could fix the rest of those stupid long handled hoes and everybody could work just like they had been for the past 100 years.
They had worked out a system that that worked very well and no bunch of protesters were gonna force them to change.... Joe
