Anyone have any recommendations (or warnings) in regards to insurance companies you’ve filed claims with? After being ripped off so badly over the flood repairs in my previous home, I hope to find a…relatively…decent company. IMHO they’re in the same class as used car salesmen.

Your agent makes a lot of difference. I've had good luck with State Farm, but YMMV.

We've been happy with State Farm also, and Jolly, is right, the agent makes a big difference. I'd suggest finding an agent who's been in business several years in your area.

Your agent makes a lot of difference. I've had good luck with State Farm, but YMMV. That was likely part of the problem I had…when I called about the house being flooded, he said, “Call this number…” That was it…no further help from him. Guy’s a real jerk, not willing to do more than take your checks. Has time to play golf though.
