I was almost sick at paying $20k for a used car but don’t feel quite so bad now, apparently the average price of a used car is now $30k…and prices have not peaked yet. According to that, I got a good deal. 🙄

We have three vehicles, the youngest being 20 years old w/279k miles. That's Sweet Bride's pickup truck. It looks/runs/rides great, nearly always garaged when not on the road. Now, our oldest, the '88 Bronco, I could park next to a homeless camp with the keys in it, and it would still be there a week later. Yeah, it's that ugly.
We drive them until they can't be driven.

Ha! Well, I had you beat on old vehicles. The only vehicle bought new (pickup) was an ‘86, the flat bed we used for hay hauling was a ‘65 Army truck. Also had a F-350 but can’t remember the year…2006 or so? My Equinox (SUV) was an ‘05, and while it was in great shape body wise it was having so many issues it would have cost more to fix than it was worth. Not to mention it would never have made it to Idaho. I finally gave it to a shirt-tail relative who is a mechanic and felt it was worth repairing since he could do the work himself. Never thought it would cost so much to replace it.

Interesting video...Guy bought a truck, then put $4K into it.
Three years ago, you wouldn't have done that.

Fix and repair are my plans for my truck 1995 F250 extend cab with 66,000 miles on it. I just need to find a good mechanic that won't try to bleed me dry when it comes time to do repairs on it. Right now neither power window works right....they go down but won't go up on their own. I have to help push the window up, I know its the motor cause I can hear it working and slipping.

It has a plastic gear ⚙️ inside it. That’s a nice truck. You need the oldest mechanic you can find. That truck will be running strong when all the new ones are long gone. Change oil regularly and use only Ford oil filters it will last nearly forever. Neighbor has 200,000 on his looks new and runs great.
