I lived there for a few years and never saw anything THAT crazy but I sure can believe it, lol. Gotta post this last part from the article though. The mental picture made me laugh - again.

"Son, you're 8. Don't go around with illegal guns and highjack cars, okay?"
What the heck does a parent even do if their 8 year old does things like this? Military school comes to mind.

There’s always the exception but most likely that 8 yr old didn’t have parents who provided firm but loving discipline. I could make a guess as to what his home life is like and the examples set for him…

I had to click on the article because I was sure the link had a typo in it, it had to be 18 years old. Not sure, but that probably sets a record.
The world has indeed gone crazy. Remember a few months ago a 6 year old brought a gun to school and shot is teacher?

Remember when kids were afraid to do such things for fear of what their parents would do to them?
Honestly, what sort of parent doesn't know where their 8 year old is and what they're doing? Or that their 6 year old is taking a gun to school?
For that matter, what sort of parent "forgets" their infant and leaves them in a hot car?
SMH

Before we left the house we were told that if we got in trouble at school and were punished, we’d get twice the punishment when we got home.

I was free ranged raised....as was every child I knew ....but we were told
Stay together Stay away from the drunk who lost his license and drove a farm tractor instead for a car...(legal loophole) Just know....everyone knows our phone number behavior. If I hear that an adult found you behavior out of line and gives you a swat....you will get two from me.
I was walking alone to town at 7 to go to the store to dream and the library for more books. Collecting bottles along the. Way to get a treat.
Over time she shorted it to you know the rules

There's no doubt some people are mis-wired from birth, there's no other explanation for some of the sociopaths that society has dealt with in the past who came from stable homes but still did horrendous deeds. But I'm thinking for the great majority of kids who choose, even inadvertently, to go against every social rule there was a distinct lack of guidance and control in their early past.
I can picture this 8 year old kid, being raised without a father, looking up to and wanting to emulate his older friends. Probably something that will continue into his teens before someone from another gang shoots him.
Of all the things I could blame these things on, my first and foremost is LBJ and his "War on Poverty" that drove men out of not just their homes, but their responsibility to their children. His policy wasn't a mistaken effort to help, it was a conspired plan to make the black community dependent on government and voting for their economic masters. And now that 8 year old will probably be shot dead before his reaches 20.

SMH It blows my mind every time I hear on the news "leave your phone or laptop in the back seat so you don't forget your kids in a hot car". Let that sink in. An adult will remember their device before they will their own kids? Society is so digital drunk, they will remember their "drug" before their own flesh and blood. Jesus come quickly.

87 % of children are born normal, the rest are divided into, unteachable, extremely willfully and incorrigibles

87 % of children are born normal, the rest are divided into, unteachable, extremely willfully and incorrigibles I can easily accept that as that is close to the % of kids who dropped out at 16. (2 dropped to partner with family farms...and were very accomplished)
