If you haven't been... The Houston Livestock Show is not long after the first of the year. Focusing on all things agriculture, along with one of the best rodeos, it's definitely an event. You might even find some Texas wine... www.rodeohouston.com/where-does-your-wine-come-from/

I've always said Texas should secede from the union, they don't need anyone else. Oh, and install an immigration system at the borders to keep out California immigrants. Sort of like during Texas vs Oklahoma weekend when they have dip stations on Hwy 35.
I lived there 29 years and loved nearly everything about Texas. Great place for business, conservative, and great people. But damn it's hot.

This year, it's been even hotter. Son lives in Pflugerville...Said a lot of the small lakes had dried up and the ground still had deep cracks.

THE REST OF (or REAL) STORY....... www.visitarizona.com/like-a-local/meet-the-maker-stephen-paul-whiskey/In the 80's, I was milling mesquite lumber on my homemade bandsaw mill, crafting some formal furniture and selling the excess lumber to a couple of other furniture makers....one of them featured in the above article. I hauled in a truck load of lumber to him one morning, and as the guys unloaded it, I commented that I had always wantewd to use that particular wood to smoke the malt for a batch of whiskey. They use peat moss to do that with scotch to give it that smoky flavor, and I did not see how any smoky flavor could out-do that of mesquite, which has long been used to broil the finest of steaks wherever it is available. Stephen said..."GOOD IDEA! I might just try that one of these days" and he did AND THAT....is the rest of the story .....Joe
