Springfield Missouri www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/gypsy-rose-blanchard-released-from-missouri-prison-early-thursday-morning-doc-confirms/ar-AA1m9JyN?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=EDGEDSE&cvid=f51b0ea170b7416ffe37217c612cec5b&ei=24Gypsy Rose Blanchard released from Missouri prison early Thursday morning, DOC confirms CHILLICOTHE, Mo. − Gypsy Blanchard didn't wait until sunrise to begin her newfound freedom. Blanchard, who conspired with then-boyfriend Nick Godejohn to kill her abusive mother in 2015, was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center around 3 a.m. Thursday, according to an employee at the entrance of the prison. Blanchard was granted parole in September after spending eight years behind bars for her role in the infamous case that has since led to documentaries and a streamed television series. The prison employee told the Springfield News-Leader, part of the USA TODAY Network, that several people and media outlets approached him to inquire about Gypsy's release time Thursday morning, but that she had already left the premises. The Missouri Department of Corrections, which had refused to provide a time Gypsy would be freed, later confirmed the 32-year-old woman's release. Gypsy recently announced the Jan. 9 release of an eBook, "Released," and said she plans to attend a Dec. 31 Kansas City Chiefs game in hopes of meeting superstar Taylor Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. more at link *Anyone know any details on this case?

sunny225, Not really all the details, but from what I've read her mother deserved it. The mother was a complete nut case, diagnosed as having Munchausin by proxy, where she'd deliberately poison the child to get attention. Changed her birth certificate to keep her younger in order to get more money and pity. Forced her into surgeries, including having her saliva glands removed, then her teeth rotted out. When a doctor would balk, she'd find another doctor. Years and years of the domination and torture. Glad she's out, but she's permanently damaged goods.

I wonder if she will get the help she needs in order to survive? This system isn't set up to really help anyone with mental and/or emotional problems.

I've seen a couple of cases over the years. What to look for...It's usually the mother that does this. They're constantly bringing their child in for treatment of some ailment that often doesn't gee-haw with the labs. They never want the doctor to talk to the child without them being present and they often don't want their child to answer questions. They answer the questions. They often seem like extremely doting mothers, highly interested in their child's treatment. Many times, they know the symptoms of obscure diseases better than the doc does.

What I don't understand is out of the many doctors and surgeons she took her child to, why at least one didn't smell a rat and call Child Protective Services. A case worker, interviewing the child alone would have jerked her out of that house the same day, if for no other reason than suspicion of child abuse.
I remember having to wait an extra half hour to see my GP one day, as he was giving a statement to the police regarding a drug-seeking guy who threatened his life if he wouldn't prescribe Oxycontin. I'm sure some drug-seeker are pretty convincing, but doctors are trained to spot them. You'd think repeated oddball maladies for one child, with them listed in her records, would be at least one red flag.
Oh, when I finally got in to the my GP I asked him about the threat on his life. He said that was his first. I told him he must live a charmed life, I get them all the time.

This was one bizarre case. I feel sorry for the girl. I hope she can go on to lead a happy life but she has some serious trauma to overcome.

Seems like her boyfriend should have his sentence looked at again. He should be considered a child rescuer in this case. Life without parole but she gets out after a few years doesn't seem fair.
