I ordered this lodge brand cast iron griddle. www.lodgecastiron.com/product/seasoned-square-cast-iron-griddle?sku=L9SGRI haven't used it yet, but impressed with the product. It's got some weight to it, and it's made in the U.S.A. All the cast pans we own are generation's old. Everyone says the old cast pans are better quality this new stuff. I'm going to give it a test run Friday morning with some breakfast.

I've got a 12", 10" and 8" Lodge skillet, a large griddle, and a large and small dutch oven. No complaints at all, esp for the price. Why I prefer heirloom cast iron like Griswald or Wagner is usually because the older stuff is often lighter. And my arthritis is becoming a thing, so.... Good luck Friday! Pics or it didn't happen.... b-fed

We have a bunch of cast iron. All of it is either Wagner or unbranded. Most of it is 70 or more years old.
When I originally moved out of the house as an adult, my mother gave me a cast iron skillet. I still have it and it gets used. I'm nearly 70 now.

A cautionary tale about cast iron vs teflon.
My ex-bil was a road salesman for a spice company, leaving Monday mornings and coming home Friday afternoons. One Friday night, after going to bed, he awoke to my sister beating him over the head with a teflon skillet. Left some serious goose eggs.
He'd rolled over in the middle of the night, patted her on the rear, and asked "hey honey, which way is your bathroom?"
If she'd have been cooking with cast iron she'd have killed him. I did mention he's my ex-bil, right?
