From my IT buddies and a few other reports I've seen...it's not just AT&T...Verizon and T-Mobile too....plus all the carriers that "Use their towers". VoIP is still fine, last I heard.

When I checked downdetector.com all the carriers were down. However, we have Verizon and I'm able to call and receive calls.

In reading the comments on the X link I shared, there are lots of doubtful comments. Someone questioned why the flare only affected the US phones.

My phone is a paperweight right now. My poor elderly shut ins are dependent on their cell phones, most gave up their landlines. Delivering their meals on wheels stuff today took a while longer than usual since many of them couldn't understand why their phones didn't work and they were nervous. Hopefully 911 calls are still getting through as needed.

Here's what my IT buddy said: (this is just outside my field of knowledge...I haven't kept up on tech the last 10-15 years) Includes Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. Does not affect Cell over VoIP (via your home Internet). Spectrum Mobile users have access to public Spectrum Wifi Hotspots, so the issue doesn't impact until there's no Hotspots and their phones auto-switch to Verizon. Hubby was able to text me from the dentist, not sure if he was on their wi-fi or what. We are on "Verizon towers".

No problem out this way at all. We have Verizon. From the map it doesn’t look like there are any problems in this area.

I don't think the fbi and homeland security does any 'urgently investigating' about anything unless it is Trump related.

'But I do know it will be 100 times worse when #China launches a cyber attack' before invading Taiwan

No way it was a solar flare, solar flares aren't picky, they take out everything. For sure it was a hack, maybe just a test to see if the Chinese/N Koreans had the right tools in place.
We use US Cellular, which is on the same towers at AT&T. No problems here.

We use Verizon because it's the best coverage in the mountains of NC and no cell phone problems all day. Have y'all considered it could be a "test" by our own Gov't to shut down cell service if it became "necessary"?
