Sal Mercogliano (WGOW Shipping) 🚢⚓🐪🚒🏴☠️ @mercoglianos Baltimore port bridge collapse: Global ocean carriers put U.S. companies on hook for urgent cargo pickup
Some ocean carriers are invoking 'force majeure' as a result of the Port of Baltimore bridge collapse and telling shippers including U.S. retailers that once cargo is dropped at alternate ports, it's no longer their responsibility.
Logistics companies tell CNBC the next 36 hours are critical in tracking the diverted trade and information is hard to get from container vessel companies, and could result in port penalties if they don't pick up shipments quickly.

Tracey Mackin @mackintracey1 GATEWAY TO BALTIMORE PORT: The bridge leads to the Port of Baltimore the deepest harbor in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay. It is the busiest U.S. port for car shipments, handling more than 750,000 vehicles in 2023, according to official data. It is also the largest U.S. port by volume for handling farm and construction machinery, as well as agricultural products, and a cruise terminal.
Baltimore bridge collapse will have ‘ripple effect’ on economy and global supply chain.
It is a major traffic and transportation hub for the U.S. East Coast and the entry point to the Port of Baltimore.
The entire span of the bridge collapsed. Collateral damage will be astronomical. Why didn’t Biden take questions?
God Bless those who are missing 🙏 🙏🙏

Tracey Mackin @mackintracey1 1.8 MILLION GALLONS OF FUEL & 56 containers holding , 764 tons of hazardous materials that includes mostly corrosives, flammables, and miscellaneous Class 9 hazardous materials, which would include lithium-ion batteries.
Some of the hazard containers had been breached and there has been "sheen" seen on the waterway.
There were 23 people aboard Dali at the time of the collision, 21 crew members

www.rural-revolution.com/2024/03/baltimore-bridge-collapse.html?m=1The current issue revolves around an emerging disruption in mid-Atlantic supply chains. The major East Coast port is now paralyzed due to the mangled bridge blocking the only shipping lane in and out of the harbor. ... The supply chain snarls have sent major logistics companies scrambling across the US East Coast on Tuesday afternoon. ... Baltimore is the most inland port on the East Coast and is connected to the I-95 highway network. With no commercial vessels sailing in and out of port anytime soon, this is catastrophic for port operations and could spark supply chain snarls in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. We suspect inbound vessels are rerouting sails this morning. The bridge collapse has severed these major marine terminals. It's unknown when operations will be restored." Coal: "Earlier, Consol Energy shares plunged nearly 10%, the most since October, as the bridge collapse will affect its massive coal terminal, which is served by CSX trains." Sugar: "A major sugar refinery owned by American Sugar Refining Inc. warned its Domino Sugar refinery only has six to eight weeks of raw sugar supplies as the blockage affects ships moving in and out of the port." Hazardous materials: "One very big logistical complication in the Baltimore bridge collapse is that the Francis Scott Key Bridge was the main route for hazardous materials (which aren't allowed to be transported through the tunnels)."

Here's a pretty good article on what happened. IMO, this is not a conspiracy to take out a bridge,BTW. LOL "When the cargo ship Dali lost power shortly after leaving the port of Baltimore early Tuesday morning, there was almost no way of stopping it. Traveling at eight knots, or about nine miles per hour, and carrying more than 4,600 cargo containers stacked up nine containers high, the ship drifted directly into one of the piers supporting the Francis Scott Key bridge, a huge chunk of which immediately crashed into the water. The Dali, with a total weight of more than 116,000 tons, was in a blackout and rendered incapable of either slowing down or turning out of the way in time." www.fastcompany.com/91070039/heres-how-difficult-it-is-to-steer-a-ship-under-a-bridge

This 'global economy' is too fragile, and unpredictable. We need to bring manufacturing back home. ALL of it.

DC_Draino @dc_Draino And there it is…
The Dali ship’s black box has 2 minutes of missing data right before it crashed into the Francis Scott Key bridge
How convenient

I got no real problem with legal immigration but another way to look at this is if they never came in the first place, they'd likely still be alive.................... bd I never had a problem with (legal) immigration until the last few years, now I have a different perspective. Since we’ll likely never rid ourselves of all the illegals, I’m at the point I’d like to see legal immigration cut in half for about the next decade, and make it even tougher to get in.
