All 8 of the states and D.C. have adopted the Advanced Clean Cars II rule, and will have an outright ban on the sale of new gas-powered vehicles after 2035. California was the first to adopt the rule, aiming to have 35% of new vehicle sales emit zero emissions by 2026, and boosting that goal to 68% by 2030. According to the California Air Resources Board, the regulation overhauls the state’s “growing zero-emission vehicle market and robust motor vehicle emission control rules and augments them to meet more aggressive tailpipe emissions standards and ramp up to 100% zero-emission vehicles.” As noted by Money, the states’ plans to ban gas-powered vehicles have generally not required votes from lawmakers, but have been advanced with support from governors and environmental regulators. The EV market has struggled in recent months, as highlighted by The Daily Wire. sunny225, I have to disagree, the more the leftist government pushes their radical agendas on red states the more the red states will remain red, plus, a few formerly blue state might just get their fill of it too. The whole EV thing is nothing more than a scam set up to profit particular special interests. The "Inflation Reduction Act" has billions in it to install EV chargers across the country. That was last year. So far they're built 4!! There's not enough electricity generated in this country to support going EV, yet the elite experts say wind and solar will make it happen. You'd have to be an idiot to believe any of it. Not to mention this whole behemoth is built on the lie of "global warming" when there isn't any. What a shame that with the average IQ of 100, that means half our fellow people are below that average and believe that crud.

I think it was Maine that recently rejected the EV mandate, arguing that Maine is too rural, there are too few charging stations and EVs are not reliable in freezing weather.
Can you imagine what the landscape is going to look like if they generate enough electricity to power homes/businesses AND vehicles? All that beautiful wide-open land will be filled with solar panel farms or wind generators.
I'm glad I'm old and won't be here to see the damage. My kids will just have to figure it out for themselves.
ETA: And speaking of vehicles, I'd bet money that there's gonna be limits put on the number of vehicles people are allowed to have in the future.

In other news, GM just announced they are developing (with government money) a hydrogen fuel cell powered truck. The truck will be for light commercial use (think something like a panel truck).
Guess the EV thing didn't work out for them...

The bright side of all this "electrification" nonsense is democrats are increasingly on board with nuclear. They're restarting a nuclear plant in my state. That helps with the supply side, but the distribution grid still can't handle electrifying transport.

In other news, GM just announced they are developing (with government money) a hydrogen fuel cell powered truck. The truck will be for light commercial use (think something like a panel truck). Guess the EV thing didn't work out for them... Fuel cell vehicles are EVs. The fuel cell replaces the batteries but the motor is still electric. There are some ICE hydrogen vehicles in development too. Toyota has bet big on that. |

The question to these green grifters should be: Just what do you realistically propose to replace all the energy gasoline and diesel currently supplies, and when?
All their grand dreams go up in smoke when applying just simple math. Yet, the continue to set farcical deadlines, demanding things even they say is impossible in any foreseeable future. Letting facts get in the way of grifting/rent seeking schemes doesn't happen. Can't let truth get in the way of a great scam.

Yep, and when you get down to it, hydrogen is nearly all the energy we use. Every fossil fuel, the energy comes from the hydrogen component. Every "green" fuel, same thing. Even solar, the sun is 70% hydrogen. Wind comes from solar, so that's hydrogen too. All we're doing is shuffling energy around, trying to come up with better ways of storing it. H2 does have the benefit of essentially zero pollution, and not just CO2 but real pollution, too. It has the disadvantage that it's not the easiest thing to store. And the perception that it's dangerous. It can be, but probably less so than lithium batteries. |

I hate discussing energy efficiency because politics always seems to displace the pure science but it's true. In fact there is NO energy source known that doesn't require more than you get from it. I*ndeed, nothing is free, but most of the cost of crude oil was paid in full before man waqlked upright6 on the planet  Of course, to meet their quotas they will have to expand the definition of EV. I have driven electric vehicles with a total gross weight of 500 tons down the road at nearly 50MPH, and they would run all day and night without a charge. The same mechanical parts are used in the general motors locomotives, but of course the electric traction motors that pull both vehicles down the road or track are powered by a generator the size of a pickup truck and THAT generator is powered by a 16v94 Detroit diesel engine of around 1500 cubic inches displacement.....stil, if they want electric and the right lobbyist offers the right amount of money, well HELLO diesel powered electric cars.....Joe |
