Truth is stranger than fiction, sometimes disturbing or offensive and occasionally downright scary.

Everything can be made to work satisfactorily right up until you bring in people whose religion mandates that they hate and kill everyone else. When you have an entire city/region that chants "Death to America" there's no solving that problem peacefully over time. Especially when the government policy is increasing those numbers with no thought to future turmoil.

Using religion as a way to justify harming other people is a bad precedent but unfortunately an old one. Most of the article probably hit me differently than most people, but that doesn't surprise me either. Ever hear of the Doctrine of Discovery? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_doctrine

Certainly nothing new about grabbing land by force of arms...and in historical fact it has been by far the most popular method since mankind crawled from the cave and tied a rock to a stick and made a war club. I suspect that the first guy to do that was considered a king throughout his area of influence, which may have covered a square mile or less.
NEXT, he needed to appoint a good buddy in the religious community to assure him he had the absolute right to do that, and thus came the very first GRAND WIZER, first illustrated in the Alley OOp comic strip.
The hard fact of the matter is that if you own and like something, and if anybody else wants it, you need to be able to defend it or kiss it goodbye, because even your government covets it if it has any value.....Joe
