www.scmagazine.com/news/lockbit-claims-ransom-negotiations-with-the-fed-over-33tb-of-stolen-dataLess than 24 hours remain on a threat by the LockBit ransomware group to release 33 terabytes of government data tied to an alleged breach of the Federal Reserve Board. While there has been no confirmation of the breach and the Fed remains mum, the deadline of June 25 looms. Multiple reports came out June 24 that the notorious LockBit group was negotiating with the Federal Reserve Board over a ransom payment in exchange for not making public 33 terabytes of government data. LockBit, with believed ties to Russia, has attacked many types of organizations, including small businesses, multinational corporations, hospitals, schools, nonprofit organizations, critical infrastructure, and government and law-enforcement agencies. Some prominent targets include the Thales Group, the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children, and the U.S. subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. If reports are true that LockBit is extorting the U.S. Federal Reserve tensions are sure to be escalating between Russia and the United States. Late last week, the Biden administration banned the use of Kaspersky anti-virus software and then followed up by placing 12 Kaspersky execs on the Specially Designated National List. Also on May 7, the Treasury Department indicted Dimitry Yuryevich Khoroshev, claiming he was the mastermind behind LockBit.

Oh, the Fed will pay the extortion, can you imagine all the little dirty secrets they'd have exposed if they didn't? 33tb is just one whole lot of information. It would take investigators possibly years to sort it all out, but with "keyword search" they could probably find some really juicy underhanded stuff in minutes.
Former Congressman Ron Paul must be salivating about now, hoping even after the ransom is paid the information is released.
A person would think with all the money the CIA has to play with they'd have a special unit tracing down those LockBit people and eliminating them. I guess they're too busy watching religious veterans.

UPDATE link to cybernews articleLockBit ransomware gang on Tuesday published a massive cache of files allegedly stolen from the US Federal Reserve central banking system after an apparent negotiation breakdown. The Russian-linked gang posted 21 separate links, containing files of what appears to be parent directories, torrents, and compressed archive files belonging to another US financial institution, Evolve Bank and Trust. The bank and its parent company, Evolve Bancorp Inc., were singled out recently by the Feds for engaging in unsafe and unsound banking practices. LockBit had named the Federal Reserve on its dark victim blog over the weekend, threatening to publish the purported stolen data on June 25th if a ransom demand was not paid by the deadline.

Well, hard as hammered hell to blackmail an innocent entity...just saying... ...by the way if anybody in US government is looking for sympathy, check the dictionary and find it between S**t and syphilis. If I had that kind of money I would pay for the information myself so I could use it against the crooks in our government .....Joe
