Would you be concerned?
I found a cherry stoner at an antique place a while back. I used it today, and honestly, it doesn't work that great. Anyhow, it's pretty messy, as anyone knows, no matter how you do it. I had juice and stuff all over my hands. Then I boiled them with a little sugar and planned to make some turnovers tomorrow.
When I rinsed off the stoner and set it on a towel to dry, I dried my hands and looked down and my fingers were mostly blackish. Rinsed with lemon juice and it took the color off.
Why am I paranoid now that there could be some metal/chemical reaction that might not be good to eat??
The stoner is cast aluminum, but blackened from being so old. I figured it's not much different than cast iron. I had washed it with just normal dish soap and water before using.
Do you ever worry about stuff like this?

Set your worries aside.... I destine 80 pounds of cherries a year... I use a plastic destined. My hand turn black with that... Now I know to use lemon to get rid if it. Normally I avoid going out.

Ha! yeah the lemon juice took it right off. It smelled funny, kinda like ammonia but light, not strong. Soon as I rinsed all that off, no smell of anything.
Cherries are real expensive here, and obviously I don't have a tree. They were on major sale so I got some. I guess I never had my hands in that many cherries before.
