I like cash..when I started my handling of my money I used envelopes for things I was saving for. Checks were acceptable to me and cards are good for over the phone I call them transactions. I still use cash I can count it and see right where I am... every penny counts.

From the business standpoint it is Necessary. Europe has been using this for years. Fraud has become so rampant that major steps were needed to combat this problem. the chips are harder to duplicate and should remedy a big portion of the card theft.

I'm becoming a fatalist. I googled myself and found more than I wanted to know, including a google earth view of my house. The only good thing I've found about technology being so prevalent is that it does make mistakes. Whenever someone uses GPS to find my house they end up in a horse pasture 3/4 miles away.

I think the "necessity" of it is probably manufactured. There will be theft problems with this...I'm quite sure of it, because that's also necessary to manufacture the next step, which will be having this info in the form of something that can't be removed from your person. It will be soo convenient, ya know.
I don't carry cards, or a cell phone for that matter. I decided I'm not taking any more steps into "progress".
GPS lands people in a field about a half a mile from my house. I tell people coming here to not use their handy dandy tech to get here but they never listen...then I get that inevitable phone call. "I seem to be lost..."

I did that and I googled my address... Which was how I found out zillow had listed the value of my property as over a million... I had bedrooms, kitchens ...not the plural of the kitchens...no photo just a plat like thing with animals structures listed noted a human homes. Not trusting out local tax assessor from using that I had zillow make changes.

The US is sooooo far behind in getting Secured cards. This has been in use for years around the world. and I did get a new billfold just a few months ago that Blocks anybody that is close enough to Read The cards by using a rfid reader.

Haha, Zillow shows our place in a different town! The description is correct (sq. ft. etc) but they have us in a suburban neighborhood. Not sure how this 10 acres fits on a city lot, but I got a laugh out of it. We always get the 'I seem to be lost' call, too. GPS sends 'em about to a cow pasture about 1/4 mile away. I love it.
