Recently, Thrive Market was giving away jar of their coconut oil for free, 1.95 shipping. thrivemarket.com/I got one, and when it arrived, it was liquid. No surprise with our inferno temps during shipping. But I have had it sitting on the kitchen counter since it arrived Friday, and it is not solidifying. It's probably 74-75 degrees in there, give or take what's going on. Coconut oil melts at 76 degrees. I have an opened jar also in the kitchen, solid. Also one in the bathroom, solid. And more in the pantry, solid. I don't want to put it in the fridge because now I'm extra curious how it will behave. Maybe it will take weeks? for it to go back solid? Fractionated coconut oil has had the long chain fatty acids removed, so that it will stay liquid. Like for skin products that want to remain liquidy, and mix well with other oils, etc. But this jar is your basic organic, virgin, unrefined. and should be solid. It't not even "cloudy" looking yet.

I wanted to bump this with all the political and current stuff threads.
Also, I got an email for a free jar of Justin's almond butter, 1.95 shipping this week. I don't know if that was for me, or if you sign up for emails, everyone could get it. That's a good deal. Anyway, they have some nice deals like that here and there. You have to put up with receiving emails from them, but it's not so bad.

paisley, I googled the question about liquid, etc. a good bit and didn't find any info to explain it. I did click you link and looked through the reviews where people post comments. I saw one that had a question about liquid like mine, but there's not a place for thrive to answer back. I also saw a couple comments where people said it stays liquid on the counter, but solid if in the fridge, and either way is fine.
I just think it's weird because my other containers have not gone liquid at room temp. I reckon it's fine. I kind of like having one liquid in case I want to use it in that form, won't have to wait or nuke it or anything.
Now, I bet come winter around my house, it might go solid. I keep it awful chilly in here in the winter.

I have a couple of jars of the Nutiva oil, and have noted two things.
1.) It does stay liquid longer than my other brand coconut oil.
2.) It actually smells a little more coconut-y than my other brand coconut oil.

just an update:
after almost 2 weeks on my kitchen counter, the Thrive coconut oil has begun to solidify in the last 48 hours.
I think it was a matter of being a mass of liquid upon arrival (understandable during uncontrolled temps of shipping)
We had near 100 degrees every day for quite a while. We've had rain and a little lower temps for the past 4-5 days. I think it just took a long time for there to be enough hours of standard "room temp" for it to begin to solidify.
No harm either way.
I was kinda glad to have it in liquid form for a bit. I had some Avon Skin so Soft bath oil, which has proved the only thing to work for skeeters here for any length of time. I mixed some in a spray bottle about half and half with the coconut oil just to bonus my skin. Avon sss is mineral oil based, which is NOT good for your skin over the long haul.
I've had some natural bug spray that was not real oily, and didn't last 10 minutes when you sweat outside. Had some all natural that was coconut oil based that lasted a bit longer. It's expensive (from a local farm market person). So I'm stretching the Skin so Soft for now as it's the only thing that works longer than 20 - 30 minutes around the yard.

tropicaltraditions.com/I buy their Gold product. In the summer when it's warm, it gets anywhere from very soft to liquid. In the winter it solidifies. I have never put it in the fridge!

themotherhen, Nope, just long enough for me to read his first post. The Proboards system is set up to keep the bots out, but an individual with the perseverance to go through the effort to join manually can still get through.

Why would someone bother? It's an obvious red flag if the first post has a link. Geesh.
