I'm not understanding why they'd announce it. It seems like they'd want to keep it quiet, replace with dummy contents, and watch who takes possession at the US end.

I thought the same thing, use a cell phone or ? to detonate it. The article just says explosives, not a bomb. There just testing the waters to see how much stuff will be unfound, untracked Etc. Etc.

I'm beginning to believe this was a bogus info. There are some other sites but Reuters says that no explosives were found in the packages. I am sorry that I posted it but Is see CBS news reported it too.
Also here: No explosives found in U.S.-bound parcels at Cairo airport: DHL WKZO - 3 hours ago No explosives found in U.S.-bound parcels at Cairo airport: DHL. I figure if the public's trust wasn't eroded, there wouldn't be so many citizen reports and people like us just sharing news so much. So, I freely accept that we're sorta stuck just needing to take in what others can offer and give it the sniff test best as we can. Sometimes, we really have the wrong info. Most of the time we will never get it all figured right anyway. I'm grateful you take the time to pass along as much as you're able gapeach.
