..............A Congress with both houses being held by Dems as well as the Executive can pass all kinds of restrictive gun control laws ! But , there are states rights issues that come into play that Congress cannot infringe upon , like concealed carry , and some states accepting CC from travelers crossing into their state . NY has some very restrictive laws about mag capacity , and other BS gun laws that will entrap an unwary traveler when they get off a plane ! ..............Keeping these little devils in their box , hopefully will happen when federal lawsuits are adjudicated by republican appointed fed judges . But , it's almost a given that total fed control by Dems will result in restrictive fed laws overriding state laws that must be repealed by the SC and lower courts which is a slow process ! , fordy

It is outside the bounds of the normal judicial and legislative systems. The process has been used in Russia, France on multiple occasions, and many other nations around the world. To the best of my recollection, this process has only been used successfully once in what is now the USA, during the years of 1776 thru 1783. One notable failed use of this process occurred in the years of 1860 thru 1865, so the people are cautioned to use great care and thoughtful analysis prior to invoking the process.

..............I was just watching a video that by 01-01-2020 ALL AMMO must be "serialized" in Illinois.........I'm not sure what this means , but there is a lot more verbage about penalties and the documentation each owner of ammo must provide to any official who asks for such.........refusing will result in an automatic fine . This is the just the first example of what is going to happen when Dems control either state or federal legislatures and TRY to implement such control over guns and ammo ! Can armed resistance by gun owners be far behind ? , fordy

I am assuming that it means that minimally all brass will have some kind of ID system stamped onto it so that the authorities can easily identify who purchased it.
If this happens and you really have someone that you dislike from Illinois you could always just pick up their stamped brass from the range, reload it, do some dastardly deed with the reloaded rounds and leave the stamped brass for the authorities to find. Easy, peasy.
Not that I would do something like that.

Politicians may be slow and stupid, but they eventually catch on to tricks like that. So their next solution to keep us safe, and it's for the children, donchaknow, will to be to ban reloads.
Easy, peasy. Isn't that another "common sense solution"?

The idiots in Illinois can do what ever it is that they want to do within their state's boundaries. If that level of stupidity comes to where I am I will have a problem with it.
"Common sense"?
It's meaning is completely lost when used by politicians and more so when used by liberals.

The whole idea of serialized cartridges is strictly an effort to eliminate the ammunition for the guns the 2nd Amendment guarantees. Totally impractical, it would slow production to a crawl, making the manufacturers either go out of business or increase prices exponentially.
I forget which state instituted a traceable cartridge law some years ago, but discontinued it after a few years as it hadn't solved one crime. I don't know, maybe all the criminals started using revolvers, or were especially neat and picked up their brass.
At any rate, the intent isn't to catch criminals, it's to stop shooters of any kind.

At one point, Illinois required it's citizens to have a gun owner ID card to buy ammo, but if you were just passing through and could prove you lived elsewhere like had a NM driver's license you could buy ammo without the card. Genius.
When I grew up there, any kid could buy a box of 22 shorts or LR who had the seventy five cents.....Joe
