Well, we had an interruption in cable/internet connections. Around Christmas or so our internet/cable provider billed us for a ridiculous amount. Due to increased electrical bills we did not pay the exorbitant bills related to electricity. We have made due with Netflix, mobile data and no data overages!
We currently have no cable, and so no Cartoon Network! I think it is worth money to not have CN on our playlist!

You are probably right.
I have a pretty good antenna and get all the major networks, plus 7 or 8 oddballs like MeTV or Grit. I've been thinking real hard about dropping Dish.

We ditched Comcast a few years back. The recording ability was the hardest part to let go.
Since then we got a really nice antenna, mounted on top the house. We get about 30 channels. About a dozen or so are actually good for watching. We have Roku through broadband and have Amazon Prime.
There more that I have just mentioned than We can watch in 50 years

We have an antenna, but for some reason no longer can tune in MeTV, which we really liked. We pay for Amazon Prime, so we can watch a lot of Dr Who. Found the original episode on YouTube. Love watching it for the camp feel of the scenery. My Dr used to be Tennant, but then I went back and watched Eccleston. Great series! Baker's scarf is duh bom diggity, and I found directions to knit one myself. Bought all the yarn and the right sized needles, and then (knowing my scarf lust, but not knowing about the project), my dear MIL bought me an official Dr Who scarf. I totally rock that thing.

I have to wonder; what is the attraction of homesteads and preppers to British TV. I ask this while we are watching Father Brown. We're watching Father Brown because we are about to start season20 of Midsomer murders and soon to run out. We have been watching Last of the Summer Wine for 2 decades.
Frankly we can't stomach hardly anything American TV has put out in years with regards to the Xfiles, which we have seen all of except the last 2 episodes I think.
My wife said she has read about the British TV link on other sites

No antenna/over the air reception here, and ditched cable over 10 years ago. Netflix, youtube and the local library video/DVD selection is just fine for us.

Back in high school, MPFC showed up on PBS. Hooked! Then, the Two Ronnies, Are You Being Served?, Benny Hill.... Later, I discovered the joys of Black Adder, Dr Who, and the excellent BBC documentaries.
Most of this was before I was an active homesteader, although I did decide when I was in 1st grade that I was going to leave Chicago and live on a farm.

Back in 2008 I told the kids I was no longer paying for both tv and internet, which did they want. All voted internet and I dropped the dish. We have never missed it. Later the kids got their own jobs and got netflix on their own. I like to watch youtube there is plenty on that. I have been watching Miss Marple lately when I want to relax. Most of the time I don't have the time to watch things.

I still think Jeremy Brett was one of the best Sherlock Holmes and the series was well done.
