...........I have argued this issue with a very conservative friend , on several different occasions ! My answer has always been , because so many R's failed to vote for Romney because.......he wasn't conservative enough , he was a Mormon , he was too liberal......and on , and on it goes ! ...........Demo's are smarter than R's because in one respect , because they hold their nose with one hand and pull the voting machine lever with the other ! They don't let minor personal issues dissuade them from voting for the chosen candidate of their party . R's can't seem to get past their petty dislikes of the chosen candidate and vote "like a democrat" . ..........So , have the R's learned their lesson and will they finally , come together and vote collectively regardless of who is chosen as their candidate ? Probably not is my guess . , fordy

Obama said at the beginning of his first term that if the economy did not make specific levels of improvement he would not get elected. The economy was not at what he said he could be reelected. Romney should have hit Obama relentlessly with his own statements. Instead Romney just smiled and said little of substance. Just that he could save the country, but not how.
The other thing was Romney's tax return. Romney kept avoiding releasing his tax return. The liberal media kept using this to make insinuations. By the time Romney released his return everybody was paying attention and noticing how much money he made. This made some middle class people feel Romney would not relate to them.
The President is elected by the Electoral College. I have to give the Republican Party a D- for nominating someone that most knew could not carry his home state.

Well the news media picked Romney from before the election ever started same as they were doing this time with Jeb .If it weren't for Trump Jeb would be the only name mentioned now .Even if Carson was ahead Jeb would have his name listed first ,even with lower numbers . That is what they pulled on Ron Paul ,Trump took lessons and proceeded to train the news media from day one .Many though they cold live with four more years of O better than a chance of eight with Romney too. I will vote for anyone other than Jeb if I am forced to, My first choice is Trump then Carson I think it would be a hoot if they teamed up

Probably not is my guess . , fordy I used to think the same way but I've looked at the numbers and Romney got more conservative votes than McCain and there were actually more conservative voters than voted in previous elections. I think the problem was that Romney didn't get enough Independents, etc. Having said that, I think there are a lot of people the say they are conservative and don't vote at all. Anyone that doesn't want more socialism needs to vote Republican this time and that includes Libertarians and Constitutional Party people and anyone else because only a Republican candidate has a chance to beat the Democrats and their illegal, dead and multiple voters.

Romney lost because of many reasons stated above, plus he decided to take the high road, not press obama on easily criticized points, and rub obama's nose in his failures. In other words, that nice guy finished last. That's Trump's appeal, he sticks it to people. I won't give another rendition of why I don't like him, but if Romney had done 20% of what Trump has done he'd have won.

He just looked a lot like what we already had too. To me watching Romney was a sure cure for insomnia and about as interesting as watching paint dry too.

I don't think Romney's heart was in it.
