We will be heading to Springfield in the morning, way earlier than I like to get up, so I can finally get the skin cancer surgery done.
My doctor found it back in September and I got an appointment for January 11. It was forecast to be rainy and icy that day so I cancelled that one and this was the next appointment they had open.
The cancer is very close to my right eye and so I'm concerned about that. Y'all please pray for me to have no problems, for quick recovery and peace from the Father.

Cancer is a scary word.. It comes in many strength..Stay as calm as you can praying for you! No one really has the words right away ...it's always a shock.
Skin is normal easy to deal with but grill the doc and write what issues down....confirm that you under stood every thing.
Hang on there. The fact that they did not te'll you weather be dam n drive in now. Is good.
I have had them tell me that 3time with jim over test results...the other times it's been well ...you will be in in two weeks so don't worry..

Everything went well and I am home. Took a good nap when I got here around 2:30.
This was done by what they call Mohs surgery. The doc cut what he thought was all of it out. They put it under a microscope to check to see if they've got all the cancer. IF not, they cut some more. All of the folks who were there today were all clear after the first cut. They then stitched it together and gave me instructions on how to take care of it. Stitches come out next Monday.
Thank you all for the prayers. I appreciate them greatly.

My mother had that right over her eyebrow, she is doing fine now years later, thankfully, though she didn't go and get a followup with a plastic surgeon right afterwards and so has a more prominent scar than if she had gone. Nobody really notices it but her though normally.

I had one off of my hand about 15 years ago, and the woman who cut it out looked like she was cleaning her first catfish, that clumsy, with an "OH ICK" look on her face. Cutting for about 20 minutes. Sure enough, she missed some, so they sent me to a pro cutter and it took him about 1 minute to carve a hunk out of there that would have kept a mink in food for a week, got it all.
Sounds like they roughed you up some, but the healthy tissue left over heals quickly and I betcha you will be good to go shortly...prayers sent....Joe

God bless you with quick healing, and no more cancers. <3

Plan on seeing a lot of drive-in movies, because your guy will not take you in public until the shiner is gone, for fear of some granny putting his lights out....Joe

joebill , I hate that the first gal was a doofus for your cancer. The entire experience from start to finish for me was professional, efficient and proficient. The whole bunch knew what they were doing. And I'll have you know we have been out in public TWICE since then. We had someone come look at our place today for the 2nd time and so we went down to the local diner for coffee and lunch while they were here. No one tried to beat my hubby down while we were there. The folks stayed looking at our place for a little over an hour! Pray that they love it and want it!

She didn't really bother me because she always gave me a chuckle. She was a nurse-practitioner, maybe late 20's, cute as a button, but a bit scarce where the judgement came in.
She could have went by any number of names, like "doctor whatever" of just plain "Mary", which was her first name, but for the time she was here in training, we had a person with the authority to dispense drugs who went by the name of "Mary Jane", and never seemed to notice when people winced.
She was kind of fun to get on her high horse, too, so lots of folks did it. She was horrified that locals can buy antibiotics just right across the border and self-prescribe, and I once ran out of Amoxycillin before I had taken the 10 days worth, so decided to go to the clinic instead of clear back to Mexico. She demanded to know where I had gotten the pills I had taken before I came to her for more, and I said "I think he said his name was Pedro"
She was NOT thrilled......Joe
