A lot of barn cats raised on dry cat food don’t seem to care for canned food.

Tom, I was contemplating if there was some other word besides "person" for cats. Mine have also all been distinct individuals.

This is, no doubt, preaching to the choir, but I keep mulling over the fb post of someone I've known a long time. She said she, "finally got her 2021 tax return." Of course, she meant she got a refund check. She and H are both very low income, so I'll guess it's "free money". She has a degree (from Cornell, having left a prestigious music conservatory when playing injuries, fibro or ?? precluded finishing.) She worked at a nature center for a while, left that to freelance as a folk musician/teacher. Don't know his education, but he drove taxi for years, quit/retired during the shutdown. He's bird-watched obsessively for years, spends lots of time logging sightings into competitive hobby groups online. They're certainly entitled to make their own life choices, but it bothers me that theirs seems to be to indulge themselves & let the taxpayers fund it.

Not to worry the Government has spent so much the taxpayer has no chance in paying for anything in a few thousand years. Main thing they tax people for is to keep up the elision that money has value. At this point they are sending enough money to Ukraine to feed everyone in the USA for years. What is today’s count $ 180 billion ?

Looked at my closet today, and thought, if I gave away everything I'm tired of, and everything I haven't worn in months, I'd be down to about 3 changes of clothes, and have to do laundry every other day or so. Our ideas of "clean" and "smells OK" have changed radically over two or three generations.

UseLess, Sweet Bride went through my closet the other day looking for blue jeans I've literally worn through. She'd bought me some new ones, but doggone, those old ones were just so darn comfortable. After a quick examination I had to agree, I had about 10 pair that looked like they'd been standing on a corner with a "Will Work for Food" sign. I think she might have been embarrassed to be seen with me.

Reminds me of Lucille Ball and Harpo Marx skit from the I Love Lucy Show.

Ozarks Tom, thanks, that was really cute. Surprised that there seemed to be so many purebred…or near purebred dogs there…close enough to identify the breed easily anyway. I saw at least 4…or maybe 5 or 6…I would gladly take home.

We'll take home one in a couple weeks, I hope!

After working at a shelter, I’d have a hard time getting a new dog/cat anywhere else. Not because the shelters are bad…most do all they can and many employees put in a lot of volunteer time to help the animals. But most are kill shelters, and even if they’re not, it’s not an ideal place for an animal to live long term. Since 1982, all my dogs/cats are have been dumped off or adopted from a shelter. While I worked at the shelter, I adopted 6 or more dogs and 17 cats, plus fostered a few.

We’ve had a video or two on here with some pretty fabulous grandmas and grandpas swing dancing. This couple’s a bit younger but I love watching them. Sophie’s maybe a bit more professional appearing than he is but Thomas seems to just be a true natural. My favorite video of them is one where Thomas is in some scruffy old clothes and they’re dancing (Do You Love Me) in their dining room. Some day they’ll be one of those elderly couples ripping up the dance floor.

Here's this year's dance for them. Just guessing here, but I'd bet neither one has a gym membership.
