I went to Lakey and Lakey for hay today. No more than the usual crowd.
Nick stopped at the Cabool Shetler's on the way home from the plant. Business as usual, no big crowds or lines, and plenty of product on the shelves.
Did not go to Walmart in Ava, because they closed the schools today, and I'm sure it was a steaming petri dish of germy little children.

When I wrote the above, I saw a repeated msg by Pony and didn't want to miss an opportunity to get one of her goats. Once I posted it, the repeat was gone. I don't know if I'm seeing things that aren't there, or if she fixed it, or if I'm really imagining every last person in this forum and I've been talking to myself in the matrix for years.

DEKE, You're right, it is very sad. I've read one of the early signs of senility is seeing double. Knowing this, you'll be excused for answering posts twice, and if you answer a post from 6 months back be assured we'll understand my friend, we'll understand.

DH and I mowed for a couple of hours yesterday. I made a dozen pancakes to keep in the fridge for easy breakfasts. And I started cleaning the window blinds. I hate! cleaning blinds, it has to be my #1 most disagreeable chore. I got 3 windows done, have 7 more to go.
Day before yesterday, I'd started painting the bathroom. But then DH decided to pick that moment to scrub the mold off the siding (Hardiplank) so I had to put away my paint roller and operate the hose to rinse the walls after he scrubbed. A pressure washer would have been handy but ours died last year & some of the mold was pretty stubborn so would have probably still needed scrubbing. So now, 2 walls of the house are pretty, pale French yellow again, while the other 2 are still blotchy green and brown.
Have hesitated planting out my replacement tomato plants as we've had a few nights in the 50s and I'm hoping to avoid damp-off (ha!) but after Wednesday, night temps will be in the 70s so I'll plant them out Thursday. The snap beans and other tomatoes are doing beautifully so far. Here's hoping we don't have any hail storms that are common in April. Just in case, I do have some big plastic plant pots that I could throw over the toms if necessary.

Good day today. The abattoir finally allowed me to bring in my barren cow. I've been trying to get her processed for about 5 weeks. Loading was easy, unloading was easy. She was a very nice cow and I'll miss her but we just don't have space for a non producer.
Just as we were getting back home, I got a call from the wild animal rescue asking me come get some surplus feed. We got 30 bags of feed of all sorts. There is a surplus of horse feed and what DW can't use for the horses will go to cattle. The 350 lbs of chicken starter will go bad before we can use it as intended but I'll mix it in to the layer feed and pig chow to move it along. I might have to find someone else who can use a bag or two. We got 1 bag of cattle minerals and 4 tubs of cow lick minerals which they love but they only get when it is free.
Then a couple of our meat warehouses called while I was with the wild animal rescue. One of them has 40K lbs of human grade chicken and the other has 15K to 20K of mixed beef, lamb, and pork. It has all been frozen but is beyond the sale date so they have to dump it. The rescue wants 10K pounds and I have been assigned the task of finding anyone to take the rest. Good problem to have, but it is a challenge because the food is 2 hours away. All the recipients have to be lined up and ready to get their share as soon as I get it here.

Piddled around some with my wild flowers. I am thrilled to pieces that a lot of foxglove has germinated. Not holding my breath. I will be really happy if flowers materialize. the plants are so tiney. No wonder, from such tiny seeds.
My dream is to have a patch of dutchman's britches. The toadlily I planted last year has come up nice. I would love to have a plants thread. Didn't crunchy say she is into plants, esp. healing herbs?

We are still in full winter here in this part of the north.. Every morning for the last 10 or more days we have got snow.. Not much, maybe 1-2 cm, but have had to blow once with the tractor so far.. The 10 day forecast keeps marching along a day at a time with the same as we have had.. I'm due for a break..
Sweetie made chicken pot pies with all home preserved fixins. All from the pantry and cold room.. Proud of her.. I have been stacking boxes of books ready for shelves in storage.. We have close to 70 or more boxes ready to go, but many places are closed so no access to shelves right now. We also want to get as many books ready to go as if the library can't have there discard book sale, and dump the lot on us we will need storage space for it all.. Usually about 3 full pallet loads of boxes or a little more from them.. Figures to be about 4 tons a time.

Mowed the grass today for the first time this year, a good two weeks later than in previous years.
The weatherguessers forecast rain to start after midnight tonight, and continue through tomorrow morning. It's raining, and it's not midnight. Boy, these guys get paid?
I'll pick up a couple sacks of fescue grass seed tomorrow if it stops raining, and spread it over the thinner areas of the pasture. Then I'll let the 43 animals walk it in to plant it in the soft ground. Hey, what can I say? I'm lazy.
Anyway, lots to do this week, I hope she gets it all done.

If it was a repeat, I only removed the repeat.
I hope...

Ozarks Tom I’m sure she’s thinking the same about you! Lol. I was back to work today. The 4 days off went quick but for the most part successful and stress free. First time in a long time that I wasn’t chomping at the bit to get back to work after having days off. Funny that. Picked up a load of hay from the neighbor, got it unloaded, a light supper fixed and a fire started. Eggs in the incubator are due to hatch Weds and I’ve got one pipped tonight. Oh remember the 30 Cornish X I bought a couple weeks ago? Yeah, appears they were mislabeled. I believe I have 30 Amber links and most are roosters. I called Rural King today and to my surprise the manager said she’d make it good for me! Supposed to have Cornish X coming in either end of the week or first of next. She took my name and number and said she’d call.
