It's a Ford 4000 industrial with a loader and backhoe ...
He promised he won't hurt himself on it ...

He has been a very good boy! We needed a back-up for our loader...the cows are going through a round bale every 2 days, so it would be difficult to feed if the loader broke down. The 'hoe will allow us to do some ditching and move manure piles around and such. It was a "Pap's old tractor" that had been sitting untouched in the barn for four years since the old man died, I guess. Took a bit of fiddling to get it running, but Numb got 'er goin'! It needs a few minor fixes but we got it for a fair price so not a problem ... Funny, we'd put a deposit down on it because we had to arrange for a guy to haul it for us. Told the seller we'd bring the balance in cash. When I went to pull the money out, the coronavirus panic was underway, and the bank was limiting withdrawals to $1,000 a day. I had to speak to the manager ... told him I wasn't a money-hoarder; I was buying a tractor and needed to settle up on it. He said he would check to see if he had the available funds ... came back and told me he could give it to me but it would be in $20's. That was quite a wad! I told Numb he ought to tell the seller, "We haven't gotten the hang of making $100's yet, but we're working on it ..."

It has a leaky fuel injector pump but Numb found an old retired fella on the "Yesterday's tractor" forum who rebuilds 'em, so I guess he'll be sending it off. The right-hand brake doesn't work, either, but I'm sure he can fiddle around with it ... keeps him out of trouble!

Very nice indeed! Sounds like just minor stuff to fix.

Yes, the previous owner seems to have kept her in good shape. She was inside a nice dry barn ... it pains me to park her outdoors under a tarp. When I get back to work, the next thing I'll be saving up for is to build a machine shed for all our equipment!

Well done! I've seen one come up for sale around here occasionally and they look pretty stout. Of course they all look the same - well used, but I consider that a reflection of reliability rather than beauty.

LOL, all our equipment here is "well used" but Numb keeps it in good running condition. I was thinking about that earlier ... for such a small operation, we have a mind-blowing amount of equipment! At least a dozen engines, if you count the small engines on the DR Powerwagons, mowers, rototiller, etc. It all comes in handy, though!

Y’all did well, I think. It may outlast us all.

Speaking of which ... the only thing I don't like about this unit is that it doesn't have a cab or ROPS. Not sure if I could get an aftermarket one added to it ...

Those were good tractors. Bet you can still get every part... Anyone have a spare diesel injection pump laying around? It seems when I went over it with a fine toothed comb my comb was missing a few teeth.... the oil is contaminated with diesel. Not much, but enough to smell it and thin the oil a bit..... the #$@!%% thing is leaking into the crankcase. So.. I need a pump. I'm sending this one out to be rebuilt but... I think maybe a spare one sitting around would be prudent as its not a part you can get new and they are impossible to find reconditioned or NOS. Oddly enough, if this was a 3 cyl diesel and not a 4 cyl (the 4000 came with either or)..... you can buy a new pump on Amazon for @ $500 no core delivered in 3 days. Wasn't that a lucky pick? Roosa Master/Stanadyne Diesel injector pump #DBGVCC429-8AJ or one that cross matches to it.... I imagine its on lots of 60s era machines.
