I think I've told the story before about an old Choctaw woman who lived near my cabin in SE Oklahoma. Every fall another neighbor about a mile away would turn out his hogs to fatten up on acorns. Without fail at least one or two would show up at Hazel's place, where she had a pen with corn bait already set up. She'd quietly pen them up, feed them soaked corn until the acorn taste had left them, then she and her son-in-law would butcher them. For some unknown reason the other neighbor kept letting his hogs out every year, even though some would go "missing".

Dad used to harvest one or two piglets from the Arkansas swamp yearly from a neighbor who let them loose to graze the neighbor's gardens. He said he figured it was a fair exchange....Joe

We have a pretty nice herd of Javelina roaming around lately and would like to have them keep right on dropping by against a time when they might look mighty tasty, but do not want to take on the job of feeding them full time, and sure do not want a freezer full of them if the fish and game department ever felt like they had the right to take a look.
I think I will go around back of the office and ditch out the spot where the shower drains, do just a bit of flood irrigation with that water and plant them a little something to keep them interested (as though the water would not be enough)
We have prob'ly had our last frost of the year here and it is in the 30's and 40's at night, 70's in the daytime.....any suggestions? .....Joe
