There seems to be a whole lot of either cures or vaccines being either developed or found among existing drugs. Each sound promising, especially the ones already in production for other uses, ramping up production is already happening with the cloroquines.
The current tragedy might very well be the spark to finding anti-viral drugs that will put us in good stead for any new virus that might come along.
I'm optimistic.

The lab in Massachusetts will start shipping their vaccine very soon. Israel is still working on theirs, beginning to test it.

The simple answer is "no". I don't think we will see anything before the Second Wave hits.
I would love to be proved wrong.

I do recall reading somewhere that a vaccine for this was patented back in 2014.
The virus itself, according to the article, was patented back in 2005.
I'll go look for the article when I get back from the garden. Have to stick to my schedule, or I will waste the whole day...

What?? Spending time with us isn't wasted, it's educational, entertaining, and most of all......assures us that you're still nearly sane.

I just bopped in to get a bottle for the wry-jaw kid, eat a couple of fried eggs, and then head back out to the potato patch.

I am just GIDDY with excitement to learn this virus has already been patented! That means that everybody who is reproducing it in their bodies without paying the license fee is in violation of patent law! SUE the bastards!...We'll let the courts put a stop to this nonsense and get right back to normal in no time. Thanks, Pony. We need to let the sap who owns the patent know he is in for a windfall.. ….Joe

I'd like to point out that when swine flu was spreading through it was an election year for Bush, he wanted to show he cared and hurried a vaccine out, many people had adverse reactions to that vaccine. One poor girl after getting it could only walk backward. So I'd be in no hurry to get a new vaccine.

Vaccines are one of the greatest advances in history, but I'm still wary of a new one rushed to market in a crisis.

Vaccines are one of the greatest advances in history, but I'm still wary of a new one rushed to market in a crisis. Vaccines are a mixed bag. I will admit that some of them have been very helpful, but I still do not know why infants need a vaccine against STDs. I do not know why the CDC published a letter encouraging mothers to feed manufactured milk over human milk, because human milk "interferes" with vaccines. Really? Maternal antibodies are inferior to lab created antibodies?
Why must we assault a child's immune system with 63 injections (at last count) before the age of 2?
And why is there no accountability for vaccines "accidents" that cripple or injure people for life?
I remember the first swine flu brouhaha back in the early 70's. Three of my friends wound up with autoimmune diseases after getting that vaccine.
If it's been tested and proven, and if the disease poses a greater risk than the vaccine, okay.
If it's not been thoroughly vetted, and if it is safer to be sick for a week or two, then the vaccine is not helpful.
Ask yourself why countries like GB refuse to routinely administer varicella vaccine. Maybe they're on to something?

It's called Guillain-Barré Syndrome and it's listed on many vaccine package inserts as an adverse reaction. It's an autoimmune disorder and can last from a few weeks to death. Here's an animal study explaining the cause of autoimmunity: "Systemic autoimmunity appears to be the inevitable consequence of over-stimulating the host's immune ‘system’ by repeated immunization with antigen, to the levels that surpass system's self-organized criticality." journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0008382

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
In each and every medical procedure, including vaccinations, there is a chance of suffering harm. The question becomes what percentage of adverse outcomes we are willing to tolerate? That kind of dovetails with our current conundrum of when to reopen the economy. How much bad can we tolerate for how much good?

She said in one interview that doctors initially thought it was that, but later determined it was not. She also displayed indications she was faking her symptoms, such as walking fine when she didn't know anyone was watching and then suddenly developing symptoms when reporters with cameras approached. But there's no way to know for sure.
