Just surprised Nick with a used copy of Iacocca. He said a few weeks ago that he wanted to read it, so... SURPRISE. It pleased him, and so I am pleased.

...Right now I’m reading A Higher Call (WWII) by Adam Makos... This book just earned itself the number one place out of all the war stories I’ve ever read (and I’ve read more than a few, starting when I was about 10 yrs old).

The other day I found 15 or so Nat. Geographic magazines out in the barn, from 1938-1945. I’ve been reading them when I take my breaks throughout the day. Sure a lot more interesting than the current magazine (which I stopped reading years ago). The articles/photos on the war are of particular interest to me, although they rather gloss over the reality of war. Reading the ads is great fun. Oh my gosh, the cancel culture would have a field day with these!!

Just finishing up a couple. Still reading John William Burgon's "The Revision Revised." I have a hermeneutics text in the pipe as well as Peter Master's "The Healing Epidemic." Both are seminary texts. For pleasure I read on my Kindle app at night, usually some new detective story, or whatever is free and looks decent.

Yep, just went and checked... Glad you mentioned the above, I would love to read that book. Would also like to hear your opinion of it since you are re-reading it @pony ... ~Moi

Overall, it is a good book, a memoir of Shepherd's life in an IN industrial town. I'm enjoying it.

Thanks for your reply - I will definitely see if our local library has it - then, if not, maybe I'll see if Abe Books has it. Soooo curious to hear what town he may be referring to? We live in Northern Indiana and so much of the sights and sounds in the movie "speak" to us...

I just finished reading "Screwtape Letters" again. Funny how good books give you new material to consider each time.

I'm really getting tickled reading these WWII cookbooks. I'm definitely going to have to try the recipes.

Not sure on the date, early ‘40s, I believe. Oddly enough, turns out my bio sisters both like reading cookbooks and have this same one. I think I have 3 copies. Attachment Deleted

I just finished reading The Airmen and the Headhunters (WWII book) and am starting The Worst Hard Time, about those who survived the American Dust Bowl.

wildhorseluvr, I have not read that one. I got these after watching an episode of the Townsends. I pick it up and lay it back down - just haven't had time to read these days.
