partndn , you have sunflowers already? It's been too cold to even plant seeds here! Oh no. This was certainly not one of the most "frugal" arrangements. Had to purchase the flowers. The lady requesting this week asked for sunflowers, all sunflowers. I actually love looking at them, but do not like arranging them. Stems are so big they can break up the oasis material and then you're up the creek to start over. We do have early flowering hydrangeas here, and a few other things I've noticed. Seems they are not usually in bloom til later in June. Oak leaf hydrangeas full this week in a friend's yard. I am hoping they hang on, as I need to do the arrangement next week and the man requesting has no special requests. We had a warm spell, then a cold spell about a month ago. Some folks' stuff got fooled and will be off track. But looks like most things made it through with an early push.

We had an unusually warm winter with a few really cold cold snaps. Then in March, it was as warm as May usually is, so all of the flowering fruit trees bloomed. Then it snowed 3" and all of the blooms froze 😯 It's been a strange winter and spring here!

The blue hydrangeas here are crapped out right now. Had to use delphenium for blue. You're supposed to sort of get an American flag idea from it. Attachment Deleted

partndn , I just went through the last three pages, and now I know what I like so much about your arrangements. In every one there seems to be beauty and love "reaching out". So many arrangements are closed in and compact, where yours are reaching out to their admirers. I doubt it's your plan, just something you feel, but it reflects very well on you.

partndn, Ozarks Tom, expressed it so well. I couldn't put my finger on it, but that is the perfect description!

What a sweet and wonderful perception!

partndn , wow, 60 years! They, and you, are so lucky! You better believe it! And consider they were no younguns upon getting married. My mom had been through college and was working. (23 yrs old) My dad had been through WW2, completed Darlington (Georgia prep school) on sports scholarship, and a 2 year college thing, then the Korean War (he was 30 when they married). I have one older brother, and daddy was 37 when I was born. I know daily how incredible it is to have both parents. I can't think of anything to say except Thank you Lord God! all the time.

Here's what you call frugal Every spec came from the lady's farm who is donating the arrangement for tomorrow. Home roses are really dangerous and the head can either crumble all the petals or drop off at the slightest touch. Sometimes even without being touched. I open up the church around 7:15 and will check to see if I've had any casualties. If anyone touches them before services are over, I'll probably commit some sin right there! Attachment Deleted
